Anne Carson teaches classics at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Her books of poetry
include Plainwater (Knopf, 1995) and Glass, Irony and God (New Directions, 1995).
Her poem “Jaget” received a 1996 Pushcart Prize and her book Autobiography of Red was published in 1998 by Knopf. Anne Carson’s other titles include Eros the Bittersweet
(Princeton University Press, 1986); Short Talks (Brick Books, 1992); and Sophokles
Elektra: Translation With Commentary and Notes (Knopf, 1997). Anne Carson recently received
a Lannan Literary Award.
